The administrative committee of the World Jewish Congress has protested against the “inexplicably small” number of 770 certificates allotted by the Palestine Government for Jewish immigration for four months as a violation of the spirit of the mandate.
A resolution was adopted voicing disappointment at the immigration schedule. It said:
“The inexplicably small number of immigration certificates of the last schedule, which in view of the tragic plight of large Jewish masses in central and eastern Europe and also in view of the great economic absorptive possibilities of Palestine is an open violation of the spirit of the mandate, shows a painful failure to recognize the importance of Palestine immigration to the Jewish people.
“The administrative committee of the World Jewish Congress protests against this policy of the Palestine Government, which is inexcusable on any grounds.”
The committee also adopted a resolution authorizing its executive to continue its efforts to organize Jews in various countries on a democratic basis.
