State, Labor Departments Oppose Starnes Alien Bills

The four Starnes bills for drastic immigration restrictions and control of aliens were opposed yesterday by the State and labor Departments.

At a hearing of the House Immigration Committee, John Farr Simmons, chief of the Visa Division of the State Department, testified that the bills were unnecessary to limit immigration.
