“We warn the British statesmen not to put any obstacles in the way of Jewish historic progress,” Moshe Shertok, head of the political department of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, declared at a public meeting here.
Discussing the forthcoming report of the British Royal Commission, Mr. Shertok said that ” we must strengthen our inner selves in order to save ourselves.”
In the present world political situation, he asserted, “the Jews cannot expect any favorable turn of events. The Royal Commission was sent to us because the British Government is terrified at the murderous and subversive forces of the country.”
“The question of partition or cantonization does not exist for us,” the Zionist leader said. “We shall overcome all difficulties. The final decision depends on ourselves. We today possess the powerful weapon, namely, the necessary strength implied in a Yishub of 420,000 people.”
