A ban by the United States Government against making any treaties with nations that persecute or refuse to protect minorities was urged by former Supreme Court Justice Jeremiah T. Mahoney, president of the Amateur Athletic Union of the United States.
Addressing 1,000 persons at a dinner in honor of Municipal Court Justice Leopold Prince at the Hotel Aster, Mr. Mahoney said he was informed representatives of several foreign powers were in Washington negotiating treaties, and that this provided an opportunity to exert pressure in behalf of the oppressed in other nations.
