THE LEAGUE OF NATIONS’ “INDIFFERENCE” TO THE FATE OF NATIONAL MINORITIES IN EUROPE WAS SEVERELY CRITICIZED AT THE THIRTEENTH CONGRESS OF EUROPEAN NATIONAL MINORITIES HERE TODAY.

SPEAKERS AT THE CONGRESS CHARGED THAT THE LEAGUE HAS NEGLECTED TO CARRY OUT A PLAN FOR APPOINTMENT OF A PERMANENT MINORITIES COMMISSION, AND THAT PROPOSALS OF ORGANIZATIONS OF MINORITY POPULATIONS HAVE RECEIVED NO ATTENTION. THE MINORITIES’ PRIMARY CLAIM, THAT LEAGUE MEMBERS GUARANTEE CERTAIN MINIMUM RIGHTS TO MINORITIES REGARDING THEIR NATIONAL CULTURES, REMAINS UNSATISFIED, IT WAS DECLARED.
