SECRET INSTRUCTIONS CURBING JEWISH IMMIGRATION TO THE STATE OF SAO PAULO HAVE BEEN ISSUED BY THE MINISTER OF POLICE, IT WAS RELIABLE LEARNED HERE TODAY.

THE INSTRUCTIONS FORBID ISSUANCE TO JEWS OF WHAT ARE KNOWN AS “CALL PAPERS.” WHICH RESIDENTS MUST OBTAIN TO BRING RELATIVES OVER FROM FOREIGN COUNTRIES. (RELATIVES SO INVITED BY BRAZILIAN RESIDENTS CONSTITUTE THE ONLY CATEGORY OF IMMIGRANTS NOW PERMITTED TO ENTER BRAZIL.) NON-JEWISH RESIDENTS ARE STILL GETTING THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS.

LIBERAL POLITICIANS ARE TAKING MEASURES TO HAVE THE SECRET BAN LIFTED, BUT DECLARE A WORLD JEWISH PROTEST IS NECESSARY TO FORCE RESCINDING OF THE ILLEGAL ACTION.

MEANWHILE, A JEWISH PAVILION WAS OPENED AT THE IMMIGRANTS’ EXPOSITION BEING HELD AT CAMPINAS AND WAS HAILED BY EDUCATION AND LITERARY LEADERS, WHO PRAISED PAST AND PRESENT JEWISH CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF BRAZIL.
