THE MANDATES COMMISSION TODAY UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED A NON-COMMITTAL REPORT TO THE LEAGUE OF NATIONS COUNCIL, WHICH CONVENES SEPT. 10 TO CONSIDER IT, ON ITS EXAMINATION OF THE PALESTINE PROBLEM.

AS HAD BEEN PREDICTED, THE REPORT MERELY REVIEWS THE ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF GREAT BRITAIN’S PROPOSED TRIPARTITION OF THE HOLY LAND TO INCLUDE CREATION OF ARAB AND JEWISH STATES AND A BRITISH-MANDATED CORRIDOR. IT REVIEWS IN THE SAME WAY A VARIATION OF THE SCHEME. IT DOES NOT EXAMINE THE FRONTIER DELIMITATIONS OF THE TWO STATES, AS OUTLINED BY THE BRITISH ROYAL COMMISSION IN ITS REPORT OF JULY 8.

THE REPORT TO THE COUNCIL ALSO SUMMARIZES THE BRITISH ADMINISTRATION’S ACCOUNT OF ITS STEWARDSHIP OF THE PALESTINE MANDATE DURING 1935 AND 1936. IT WILL BE PUBLISHED SEPTEMBER 10.
