DISCOVERY OF A PLOT AGAINST THE LIVES OF EMIR ABDULLAH, TRANSJORDAN’S RULER, AND A NUMBER OF OTHER NOTABLES INCLUDING CAPTAIN GLUBB, BRITISH OFFICER CONSIDERED SUCCESSOR TO LAWRENCE OF ARABIA, WAS REPORTED HERE TODAY. THE PLOT WAS UNCOVERED IN A DRIVE AGAINST THE INCREASED ACTIVITIES OF GROUPS OPPOSED TO THE PRESENT TRANSJORDAN REGIME.

A BOMB WAS DISCOVERED IN A CAR USED BY THE EMIR AND BOMBS AND AMMUNITION WERE FOUND IN THE POSSESSION OF A NUMBER OF CONSPIRATORS UNDER ARREST.

LEADERS OF THE OPPOSITION, INCLUDING THE MANAGER OF THE TRANSJORDAN BRANCH OF THE ARAB BANK, HAVE BEEN ARRESTED AND BANISHED FROM THE COUNTRY.

AT HIS TRIAL, ONE OF THE CHIEF DEFENDANTS ADMITTED HAVING BEEN PROMISED THE SUM OF £250 (ABOUT $1,250) FOR THE MURDER OF THE EMIR, CAPTAIN GLUBB AND SEVERAL OTHERS.

AMONG THOSE TESTIFYING ARE RAGHEB BEY NASHASHIBI, FORMER MAYOR OF JERUSALEM AND CONSIDERED AN ALLY OF THE EMIR IN OPPOSITION TO THE GRAND MUFTI OF PALESTINE, HAJ AMIN EL HUSSEINI.
