JEWISH STUDENTS IN MANY AUSTRIAN SECONDARY SCHOOLS ARE BEING SEGREGATED INTO “GHETTO BENCHES,” THE JEWISH TELEGRAPHIC AGENCY LEARNED TODAY.

THE PRACTICE, NOT DICTATED BY ANY OFFICIAL ORDER, VARIES WIDELY. IN SOME CASES ENERGETIC JEWISH PROTESTS RESULTED IN ABOLITION OF THE SEPARATE BENCHES FOR JEWS. IN SOME VIENNA SCHOOLS JEWS HAVE FOR SOME TIME BEEN SEGREGATED IN SEPARATE CLASSES, JEWISH PROTESTS AVAILING NOTHING.
