RUMANIAN JEWS STRIVE FOR THE TIME WHEN THEY CAN JOIN RUMANIAN PARTIES AND FEEL THEMSELVES EQUAL CITIZENS, BUT MUST NOW MAINTAIN THEIR OWN PARTY TO DEFEND THEMSELVES, SAID DR. MAYER EBNER, DEFENDING THE EXISTENCE OF THE JEWISH PARTY IN AN ARTICLE IN THE OSTJUEDISCHE ZEITUNG.

“OUR POLITICAL PARTY IS NOT DIRECTED AGAINST ANYONE AND IS WORKING FOR THE WELFARE OF THE WHOLE NATION; OUR JEWISH PARTY IS MERELY A TEMPORARY EXPEDIENT AND IS NOT EXPECTED TO LAST FOREVER,” SAID DR. EBNER, REPLYING TO AN ATTACK BY INTERIOR MINISTER ION INCULETZ, WHO HAD MADE A SPEECH BLAMING POLITICAL PARTIES OF NATIONAL MINORITIES FOR RUMANIANS’ HATRED OF THE MINORITIES.
