DR. SAMUEL MARGOSHES, EDITOR OF THE DAY, DISCLOSED TODAY THAT HE HAS RESIGNED AS MEMBER OF THE GOVERNING COUNCIL OF THE AMERICAN JEWISH CONGRESS AND FROM SEVERAL OF ITS COMMITTEES. HE SAID THE ACTION WAS TAKEN BECAUSE OF A STATEMENT MADE BY DR. STEPHEN S. WISE, PRESIDENT OF THE CONGRESS, AGAINST THE DAY, ITS PUBLISHER, DAVID SHAPIRO, AND HIMSELF. THE STATEMENT WAS IN CONNECTION WITH AN ATTACK MADE BY DR. MARGOSHES ON MAYOR LAGUARDIA BEFORE ELECTION DAY FOR HAVING REFUSED TO CANCEL A PERMIT ISSUED TO THE GERMAN-AMERICAN BUND TO HOLD A PARADE.
