A conference of some 400 representatives of landsmannschaften and fraternal organizations at the Hotel Astor last night, called to spur the Joint Distribution Committee’s $5,100,000 drive, was told that the J.D.C. would match contributions by these organizations for relief of Jews in Eastern and Central Europe.

Dr. Bernhard Kahn, European director of the J.D.C., announced that the J.D.C. was willing to cooperate with home-town groups here in extending relief to Jews in localities in Europe, and would seek none of the credit for such work.
