The parliamentary constitutional committee today categorically rejected a request by the Lithuanian Jewish community that minorities clauses contained in the old constitution be retained in the new charter which goes into effect Feb. 16. The committee agreed, however, to insert a clause declaring that religion and nationality of Lithuanian citizens could not be used as grounds for exceptional treatment.
