Sir Arthur Grenfell Wauchope, retiring High Commissioner, laid the cornerstone today for a $75,000, 50-bed Lewis Yelland Andrews Memorial Hospital at the American Jewish colony of Nathania in the presence of 500 Jews and Arabs from the Sharon plain and Hefer valley. The hospital is named for the British District Commissioner who was killed by Arabs last September.

Deploring interruption of activities by terrorism, Sir Arthur declared that his efforts for permanent restoration of order would “be obviously better understood a decade hence than today.” Mrs. Rose Jacobs, of New York, member of the Jewish Agency Executive, brought greetings on behalf of the Agency. Ben Ami, chairman of Nathania’s executive committee and Colonel Heron, director of medical services, were among other speakers.

Sir Arthur will broadcast a farewell address to Palestine next Monday evening.
