A new law on admission to the legal profession, introducing many discriminations and making entrance to the profession more difficult, was adopted today by the Law Committee of the Sejm. the bill grants individual bar associations greater independence and autonomy. It is feared that entrance difficulties will especially affect Jewish candidates. Amendments were submitted to the committee by Jewish Deputy Emil Sommerstein and Ukrainian Deputy Witwicki, but most of them were rejected.
Jewish deputies, in interpellations in the Sejm, protested today against regulations compelling Jewish business establishments to display signboards with the full names of the owners and against what they charged was an anti-Jewish policy of the Government tobacco trust.
