Bruno Walter, exiled German orchestra conductor of Jewish extraction, today cancelled his contracts with the Vienna State Opera and the Salzburg Music Festival. The Austrian Nazis’ hatred for him was shown in June, 1936, when they disrupted with stench bombs an opera he was conducting in Vienna.
