A group of unemployed members of the Palestine Jewish Labor Federation ended a five-day sit-down demonstration in City Hall today after Mayor Israel Rokach had promised a $5,000 grant to the federation’s unemployment fund and declared public works projects would be started within two weeks. Yesterday, the city council approved a $150,000 public works program designed to give part-time employment to 800 for four months.

A Hundred unemployment today invaded the town council offices of the Jewish settlement of Hedera. They left the chairman’s room after they had been persuaded by the police, following which the chairman received a delegation, which presented demands for work.
