Appointment of a representative committee on political refugees was urged upon Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain by Miss Eleanor Rathbone, Independent, who announced that she would raise the refugee question in the House of Commons Monday.

Miss Rathbone suggested that the committee include representatives of Government departments, local authorities, unions, professional organizations and refugee care bodies and be empowered to formulate a national policy on handling of the problem. She proposed that the committee be financed by the Government.

Miss Rathbone also proposed that the Prime Minister convene a conference of Dominions representatives to formulate an imperial policy on refugees, to cover conditions of admission, employment and other matters.
