Mgr. Andrej Hlinka, leader of the Slovak Catholic People’s Party, told foreign newspapermen: “We are a nation and we wish to enjoy the rights linked to national Sovereignty. If the Czechs do not grant us this right we will make our demand before the whole world, and we will insist that the Czechs grant us minority rights. As for the Jews, since they are here we will give them the rights their numbers justify.”
