The official news agency announced today a new decree prohibiting admission of Jews into professional organizations of physicians, lawyers and engineers pending promulgation of the new law limiting Jews’ participation in employment and professions to twenty per cent.

An appeal to Regent Nicholas Horthy for protection against “the anti-Jewish storm” was voiced today by Councillor Samuel Stern, opening a conference of Jewish communities of the Pest district.

“We will not rest until we win restoration of our right, which has been unworthily restricted, and also recognition of our thousand-years-old civilization and our Hungarian character,” Mr. Stern said. He announced negotiations with the Government to prevent further deterioration of the Jewish position and measures to secure new occupations for those losing their jobs under the new legislation.
