Reich Cancels Expulsion of Rabbis when Lithuania Threatens Reprisals

The German Government cancelled scheduled deportation of several Lithuanian rabbis from the Reich after the Lithuanian Government threatened to deport German citizens from Lithuania as a reprisal, it was disclosed here today.

In addition the Lithuanian Government is demanding that Lithuanian Jews be allowed to take out their property in emigrating from the Reich, otherwise the property of German citizens in Lithuania will be expropriated.

The Lithuanian Minister to Berlin has received assurances that Lithuanian Jews will be treated the same as British and American Jews in regard to application of Goering’s property registration decree.
