The authorities have permitted 27 Jews who arrived on the S.S. Nieuw Holland with tourist visas to land. The group had been originally refused permission to enter, under regulations banning admission to immigrants who sought to enter the country as tourists. The status of the group will be subject to examination at the end of three months, it was decided.

The Interior Ministry told the J.T.A. that the Government would consider sympathetically the position of migrants now on the high seas, but had repeated instructions to shipping companies not to issue tickets, even round trip tickets, unless the purchasers had landing permits.
