Germans Organize Anti-jewish Disorders in Memel

A number of persons were under arrest today in connection with yesterday’s German anti-Jewish demonstration in Memel, during which many Jews were injured. The demonstration “was staged during a night session of the autonomous Memel diet.

A new Nazi association has been formed in Memel under the name of “Kulturverb and.” The organization plans to centralize all German “cultural and social activity” as a prelude to political activity. The head of the new body mill be Dr. Ernest Neumann, former Nazi leader in Memel, who was sentenced in 1935 to 15 years’ imprisonment for attempting an armed insurrection. He was amnestied last spring.
