Rumania Reported Preparing to Seize Immovable Jewish Property

Unverified but reliable sources reported today the Government intended to acquire powers enabling it to confiscate immovable property held by Jews. The report followed a meeting of the State Council, at which King carol presided and which was understood to have discussed important measures for the “protection of national labor.” a semi-official announcement declared the government was resolved to introduce far-reaching nationalist legislation to “satisfy the Rumanian majority” and to take measures to enforce the law requiring all enterprises to employ “ethnical” Rumanians to the extent of 50 per cent of the personnel.
