Predicting that Great Britain’s sympathy for the German Jews would redound to its greater economic prosperity, Sir Frederick Marquis revealed here today that his chain of department stores had placed $20,000,000 worth of trade in countries other than German as a result of the anti-Jewish persecution. “And we have encouraged manufacturers to start enterprises in this country because of that decision,” Sir Frederick added. “In the long run the whole economic life of this country will be strengthened as a result of the mercy shown to the Jews.”
Just returned from a visit to South Africa, Sir Frederick Expressed the opinion that the dominion would “fight rather than allow forces of Nazis to live on their borders.”
