Bills to prevent the wearing of uniforms by the German-American Bund and similar groups have been introduced by Representatives Joseph A. Gavagan and Hamilton Fish of New York. The Gavagan bill would bring the Bund under the jurisdiction of the Federal Corrupt Practices Act and provide a $1,000 fine and a maximum of a year’s imprisonment for violation. The Fish bill, for which he says he has been promised a hearing before the House Military Committee, would prohibit the formation and activities of private military organizations.
