Wertheim to Direct Fund Appeal for Expanded A.j. Committee Program

Maurice Wertheim has accepted the chairmanship of the Finance Committee of the American Jewish Committee, President Cyrus Adler announced today. Under Mr. Wertheim’s leadership, the Committee will seek increased sums needed for its widely expanded program. “In order not to interfere with the various local efforts now being made in this country on behalf of philanthropic and educational needs, as well as for relief and overseas aid for Jewish, Protestant and Catholic refugees, the Committee will make no general appeal, but will endeavor to secure the support of interested individuals in the various communities,” Dr. Adler said.
