Formal ceremonies opening the Jewish Palestine Pavilion at the New York World’s Fair will probably be held on May 15, it was announced today at a press conference with George Backer, chairman of the sponsors’ committee, and Mayer Weisgal, director. Dr. Chaim Weizmann, president of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, has indicatied his intention of attending, it was stated.
Completion of the pavilion has been assured, Mr. Weisgal revealed, by advances from Zionist funds against contributions still to be made. Cost of the enterprise was estimated at between $300,000 and $325,000.
