The Palestine commission of the Zionist General Council yesterday approved proposals drafted by its political subcommittee to defeat the British Government’s impending decision on Palestine. (Havas Agency said a policy of “passive resistance” was adopted, and added that British military and police officials conferred with Jewish authorities in an effort to get them to persuade the Jewish population to receive the British policy quietly.

A rabbinical conference presided over by Chief Rabbi Isaac Herzog adjourned in tears upon the announcement of Rabbi Judah Leib Fishman, member of the Jewish Agency Executive, that the “MacDonald White Paper has been duly signed and sentence issued.” Psalms were tearfully recited as the conference broke up.

It was reliably learned that all Jewish illegal immigrants held in custody will be released on Friday and will be permitted to remain, their total being deducted from the regular immigration quotas.

Two Jewish special policemen, Yehuda, Biderman and Dov Bardt, both 25, were shot dead while on duty at the German Colony in Haifa. Police who went to the scene of the shooting wounded and captured an Arab assailant and later arrested a second suspect.
