Placards printed in Hebrew appeared on the walls of Jerusalem today to warn British authorities that the Jews “would take up the sword” if their hopes for a national home were blasted. “We do not want to cause the death of innocent people but if necessary we will not hesitate to shed blood,” the placards warned.

At the same time Revisionists launched a campaign for a 24-hour general strike following the White Paper’s release.
