Secretary Hull, expressing deep sympathy with the plight of refugees, told Dr. Goldman (see page 3) that the United States Government continues its interest in the establishment of a Jewish homeland in Palestine. Dr. Goldman said that Mr. Hull was highly appreciative of the constructive work achieved by the Jewish pioneers in Palestine and also was mindful of the American interest in the Jewish homeland going back to the days of President Wilson.

Secretary Hull said he was not yet prepared to make a formal statement on the Palestine situation, but legal experts of the White Department had been assigned to scrutinize the White Paper carefully.
