An Istanbul dispatch to the Daily Herald said today that a Turkish proposal to France and England under which Turkey would take over the mandate for Syria and Egypt the Palestine mandate was discussed at Angora yesterday by the Foreign Ministers of Turkey and Egypt. The Istanbul newspaper Tan is quoted as declaring that the transfer is a necessity for Mediterranean security and would counter Chancellor Adolf Hitler’s flirtation with Saudi Arabia.
