Nazi hoodlums have launched a campaign of violence against Jewish children in the Moravian cities of Maehrisch-Ostrau and Bruenn and in other German-populated centers, it was reported today from Prague. Nazi pickets stand guard at park entrances and ask approaching children whether they are Jewish or “Aryan.” Jewish children who try to enter are beaten and driven off. Even nurses with babes in arms are questioned on the race of their charges.
Under pressure from the German authorities, the Slovakian Government is preparing a law prohibiting shechita. Since the Jews of the “protectorate,” where the practice already is under proscription, have been getting their kosher meat from Slovakia, the projected measure will affect them as well as the Slovakian Jews.
