Thousands of refugees from Memel face return to Germany as a result of conferences going on here between German and Lithuanian Government representatives over citizenship of the persons who fled the district when it was taken over by the Reich.

It is reported authoritatively that refugees who were formerly German citizens will be regarded as German subjects, although they had opted for Lithuanian citizenship, will be given German passports and forced to return to Germany.

This plan is reportedly favored by the Germans because the refugees, as German subjects, would lose the right to compensation for property confiscated in Memel which amounts to many millions of lit.
