Interior Minister Albert Deveze today ordered provincial governors to exercise stricter supervision of aliens on the grounds that many had settled illegally or had engaged in occupations other than those to which they had been licensed.

The Senate has refused to confirm naturalization granted by the Chamber of Deputies to a Polish-Jewish industrialist who has been settled in Belgium since 1921. The Senate cited his failure to master the French Language sufficiently and his employment of an equal number of Belgian and foreign workers, twice contravening labor regulations.
