Judges presiding over courts in the city of Piatra-Neamti served notice today that they would not recognize the recent decision by the city’s Chamber of Lawyers to exclude the chamber’s Jewish members from practice.

The judges informed Jewish lawyers affected by the decision that they would be admitted to their courts as hitherto. Their action was taken, it was stated, with the approval of Justice Minister Victor Iamandi.

News of the Piatra-Neamti jurists’move prompted Jewish lawyers in Galatz, Jassy and elsewhere, who had been deprived of the right to practice by local chambers, to apply to the Justice Minister for restoration of their rights.
