Testimony that an official Reich agent had instructed him to spy on the wife of Col. I. Labhart, chief of the Swiss General Staff, was given today by the witness Stieger at the trial of eight members of the Nazi-patterned “League of Faithful Confederates.”
This testimony confirmed charges by the prosecution and cast new light on the activities of Reich secret agents in Switzerland. Another witness, named Diesslin, revealed that the Nazi group had instructed him to spy on French and Czechoslovak consulates as well as members of the Swiss General Staff.
Dr. Alfred Zander, self-styled Swiss “fuehrer,” and his “Faithful Confederates” are accused of attempting to nazify Switzerland and of furnishing defense secrets to the Reich.
