The newly formed American Christian Emergency Council for Palestine announced today that it is planning a mass Christian pilgrimage to the Palestine Pavilion at the World’s Fair as a protest against the British policy on Palestine and the recent decision to suspend Jewish immigration for six months. The Council, at its first meeting Friday, denounced the White Paper as a “gross violation of the Palestine Mandate” and termed the immigration suspension “a veritable calamity of catastrophic proportions to the hapless refugees seeking escape from virtual extermination.”

The Council, which was organized by the Pro-Palestine Federation of America and comprises prominent clerical leaders and educators, decided to inaugurate an educational campaign to enlist nation-wide support for a resolution, to be introduced in Congress, against the “violation of an international covenant by Great Britain to which the United States is a signatory.” The planned pilgrimage to the Palestine Pavilion will be the initial step in the campaign.
