Cuba Admits 53 Refugees Held 3 Months in Immigration Station

President Laredo Bru issued a decree today freeing 53 Jewish refugees including 16 children and 20 women from the Tiscornia immigration station where they had been held since May 16. The refugees who came here on the steamer Iberia had originally been ordered deported to Germany Cuban Jewish leaders including Max Stone and Max Schlesinger of the Jewish Center, left for New York yesterday to confer with representatives of American Jewish organizations on the plight of 4,000 German Jewish refugees who must remain in Cuba several years pending re emigration to the United States.
