Regulations to implement fully the drastic second anti-Jewish law have been drafted and are now being considered by the Cabinet it was learned today. If the draft submitted to the Cabinet encounters no opposition the regulations will be published in tomorrow’s Official Gazette. The regulations consist of 60 points.
Reviewing repercussions of the anti-Jewish legislation the annual report of the Union of Industrialists states that 23,000 to 24,000 persons have been affected. The report also reveals that 17,000 to 18,000 industrial employes will be replaced within the next two and a half to four years their severance compensation coming to 45,000,000 to 50,000,000 pengoes. According to the report the working capacity of enterprises is likely to be severely affected by depletion of pension reserves. Some 54,000 dependents of dismissed employes are expected to become destitute.
Replying to an interpellation in the Municipal Council on the effects of the second anti-Jewish law which went into operation last May Mayor Karl Zsendy of Budapest declared no catastrophic consequences were expected. “As long as I am holding office.” he said. “nobody will starve.”
