Eric Louw anti Semitic Member of Parliament told a City Hall rally of 1500 persons here that the Jewish question was neither racial nor religious but purely “a matter of economics” Louw charged that Jews were gaining control of South Africa and dominated the professions and trades The Rand Daily Mail commenting on the speech in an editorial captioned “Berlin Will like it,” declared it should have been delivered in the German capital where Louw “would have won tumultuous applause as an example of Germanism.”
