Prayers for an Allied victory in the European war were said in all mosques of the Near East today. Ignatius Cardinal Tappouni, Patriarch of Antioch, and the Grand Mufti of the Lebanese Republic were among the many religious and civil leaders adding their pledges of loyalty to France. The Mufti said he spoke for the entire Moslem world, which he described as revolted by “aggression against a people whose only crime is their refusal to bow to oppression.”
