The Zionist Review, organ of the British Zionist Federation, today assured the Allies of the Jews’ complete support and urged the strengthening of Jewish defense forces in Palestine as a bulwark for the democracies.

The Zionist weekly declared editorially: “The Yishub is making plain where it stands. Its strength can be doubled and trebled from outside if the British Government gives the word. Jewish Palestine is ready and able to assume their responsibilities, which would mean a significant accession of strength to the Allied forces. We cannot doubt that the British Government will have the imagination to make full use of the opportunity to obtain more manpower and resources. The Jewish people, at any rate, are ready.”

Assuring the Allies of the Jews’ full support, the editorial said: “We know what would be the fate of the inhabitants of Poland, particularly the Jewish community, if Nazism succeeds. We know what the Jews of the world can expect if Hitler emerges victorious. These considerations must be exercising the hearts and minds of Jewish people where-ever they may be.”
