Mass arrests of impoverished denaturalized Jews for not paying the special tax imposed by the Rumanian Government upon Jews whose citizenship has been revoked are reported from Botoshani, in northern Rumania.
The arrested Jews, it was learned, are being transported to other townships for forced domicile as punishment. Among them are families, of which either the husband or a son is doing military service. Many include not only native Rumanians but also some whose parents were born in this country. The majority of the victims are extremely poor employes of artisans or are jobless.
