The Jewish population of Austria has been reduced from 165,000 in March, 1938, to 55,000 as of September, 1939, according to an official report sent by the Vienna Jewish Community to the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee. The report is based on a census which the Gestapo forced the Community to take.
