Despite the war-strained economic situation, new industries are being established in Palestine to supply home markets and to make use of the country’s resources.
The latest enterprises to be launched include a factory for the manufacture of fine steel products under patented processes of Dr. Kliger, a Czech immigrant. Site of the factory is Emek Zebulon. Another factory, which will make vinegar from citrus products, will be established at Meged.
Czech Jews are establishing a fish curing plant at Haifa similar to plants already in existence at Nathania and Tel Aviv. A new leather goods factory has been set up at Tel Aviv by Czech Jews who hope to recapture foreign markets they formerly supplied from Czechoslovakia.
