The New York Times reported today from Bucharest that Interior Minister Mikhail Ghelmegeanu had promised to lift the ban on Zionist activities in Rumania if the Rumanian Zionist Organization halted assistance to illegal emigration to Palestine. The United Press said that the Government had acted at the request of the British Government.
