Grand Jury Opens Probe of Forged Pelley Letters

The District of Columbia Grand Jury today began its investigation of the Pelley forged letters scandal and planned to call at least six witnesses before the end of the week.

D.D. Mayne, Pelley’s Washington representative who confessed forging the letters which falsely linked Chairman Martin Dies of the House Committee investigating un-American activities, and Silver Shirt leader William D. Pelley will be summoned to testify. District Attorney David Pine indicated indictments for perjury would be asked.
