600 Attend Untermyer Rites, Hear Eulogy by Silver

Funeral services for Samuel Untermyer, who died in Palm Springs, Cal., last Saturday, were held today at his Greystone estate with 600 persons, including many prominent in Government, law and other fields, attending and Rabbi Abba Hillel Silver of Cleveland officiating. Burial was in the Untermyer mausoleum in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Rabbi Silver said that Untermyer “was singularly blessed in natural endowments and outstanding achievements,” that “he believed in the American way of life and valiantly championed and defended it.” Among those present were Governor Lehman, Alfred E. Smith and James Marshall, president of the New York Board of Education.
