A new Interior Ministry regulation went into effect today prohibiting entry of European tourists, visitors, students and “rentists” (persons supported by relatives). It was semi-officially explained that the measure was taken because many persons remained in Mexico without permission and could not be deported. The ban was aimed particularly against”rentists” who used Mexico as a stopping-off place for entry into the United States.

(A United Press dispatch, quoted in JTA NEWS April 2, said the Mexican measure applied to European “capitalists.”)
